TROPHYLITE Embraces the future with TORC adding a full short course series for 2010

Now you can choose from long course off-road desert racing or full tilt short course racing in the same TROPHYLITE trucks. In a bold move and weeks of negotiation TROPHYLITE and TORC are happy to announce the next evolution of the TROPHYLITE race series. The addition of a full short course series for the TROPHYLITE trucks that will be run in the TORC series. The addition of the short course race series will be available for all TROPHYLITE teams and will be focused around the west coast races held by TORC. The General Tire TROPHYLITE off-road race series will still have a full 5 or 6 race desert series and championship as it has in years past. The addition of the short course series will enhance the options open to truck and team owners.

TROPHYLITE teaming up with TORC makes sense to bring a low cost spec truck class to the TORC series. In addition to working with TORC this will also allow TROPHYLITE to work with USAC on the series for safety and rules for the events. USAC is well known for their involvement in motorsports and their governing of events.

TROPHYLITE and USAC are in the process of working through a rule modification that will allow drivers to enter the TORC events in a TROPHYLITE truck at the age of 14 years old with their parental permission. Another bold move by the group to bridge the gap for the younger drivers wanting to get into trucks and build their experience.

Look for the next General Tire TROPHYLITE race for 2009 to be held at the TORC race in Las Vegas on October 23- 24 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This will be the debit of the TROPHYLITE trucks in the TORC series aimed to carry the momentum into next years full schedule.

TROPHYLITE owner and President Greg Foutz commented "Working with TORC is exciting for us. It will be allot of work for all of us at TROPHYLITE but I think it will be great for the guys that want to go racing in the short course stuff and not have to shell out tons of money. This will provide a real competitive and inexpensive way to race a truck in the TORC series. The guys at USAC have been awesome in helping with getting the driving ages down to 14 for us so that we can use this as a spring board for the up and coming drivers too. This will be provide racers with the lowest cost of entry into a competitive short course off-road race program with TROPHYLITE. Keeping the spec trucks the same allows everyone to race longer desert races and short course with the same truck."

With full turnkey TROPHYLITE trucks starting at only $51,500 this will be the most affordable truck class available in the short course racing world. TROPHYLITE also has rental trucks available and full arrive and drive programs that will start in 2010 for all TORC races.

General Tire TROPHYLITE teams prepare for Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno Race

Billed as the longest off-road race in the United States the annual Vegas to Reno off-road race holds a twist this year. This year Casey Folks of Best in the Desert is raising the bar and making it the "Vegas to Reno - the long way". In simple terms he is turning the normal longest off-road race held in the United States into a 1,000 mile race held over a 3 day event.

With the event starting in Las Vegas with festivities held at the South Point Hotel and Casino the teams will cross much of the state of Nevada on a 3 day trek to end up in Reno to crown class winners. Teams will race each of the 3 days and stop at the end of each stage for the night. The teams will be given only one hour per night to perform repairs and maintenance on their vehicles making this a very difficult event.

While this event is not one of the General Tire TROPHYLITE® points races it is still one of the biggest events of the year. Two teams from the TROPHYLITE® family are setting out to compete. Past Winner Gary Messer will pilot his TROPHYLITE® truck against others in class 7200. Gary will be the underdog on horsepower by challenging the 7200 class trucks which have more open rules on the engines. Most of the 7200 trucks are equipped with bigger V-6 engines yielding substantially more horsepower then found in the 2.2L engines that the TROPHYLITE® trucks are equipped with. Gary commented "We have a great group of guys who have been working together to prepare for this exciting race. We are all looking forward to a great time and meeting at the finish line in one piece." Gary is no stranger to finishing races and has a plan in place to work through the 3 day event and attempt to emerge the winner in this very competitive class. Many of the trucks entered will suffer mechanical problems over the 3 day event which Messer believes will favor his TROPHYLITE® truck and team.

Russ Phillips and Tom Davis each own TROPHYLITE® trucks and will be teaming up to tackle the 3 day event in a combined effort. Russ and Tom have teamed up together for the last several races and recently acquired a second truck so they can both drive in the General Tire TROPHYLITE® races. The team will compete in the newly formed Best in the Desert class 3000. Class 3000 is a combined car and truck class that is focused around the 2.2L GM echotech 4 cylinder engines that are found in the TROPHYLITE® trucks. This combined class will have various types of trucks and cars competing with each other making it a very difficult and competitive class. When we asked Russ about his plans for the race he had this to say. "We feel that if the 2 rookie drivers can keep from making too many mistakes this tough little truck can out race and out last all comers in class. TROPHYLITE Laser Cut chassis tube video

Check out the video of the laser cutting of the tubes for the TROPHYLITE chassis. We spent the last couple of months doing the 3D cad work on the trucks and now all of the chassis parts are being laser cut and CNC bent. I thought this video would be great for you all to see the progress. We are getting the first parts end of this week to build the first truck from the laser cut work.

I am so excited to see the progress in our build automation project. Things are moving along and progressing in all areas of TROPHYLITE. We are planning to release some big news in the next couple of weeks about our next year plans.

TROPHYLITE jumps into the future with Foutz Motorsports

Chandler, Az (April 24,2009) Today marks the beginning of the next generation for TROPHYLITE. Foutz Motorsports Incorporated, led by respected off-road team owner Greg Foutz, has acquired an ownership interest in TROPHYLITE. After two months of discussions, an agreement has been reached that will allow TROPHYLITE to expand and grow to new levels under Foutz’s leadership. Over the next month, TROPHYLITE operations will transition to Foutz Motorsports headquarters in Chandler, Arizona.
“I have known the Scaroni family for a long time and have worked with them on race efforts over the years. When Matt and I started talking about us taking over the TROPHYLITE program it seemed like a great deal for everyone. We are preparing our shop now to have production up and running in the next week from our Chandler facility. Look for some exiting things to happen for TROPHYLITE in the next several months. We are glad that the sponsors of the series are on board for this change and happy that everyone sees this as a positive move toward the future.
