ARCIERO-MILLER RACING IS GEARED UP TO DOMINATE

Foothill Ranch, Calif. (July 12th, 2007) — Arciero-Miller Racing, one of the nations most accomplished off-road racing teams is gearing up to pull double duty for the month of July. This is the first time in Arciero-Miller Racing history that the team has entered two separate races in two different states coinciding on the same weekend. The team is competing in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the SCORE International Terrible’s Cup III in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Southern California based, Arciero-Miller Racing has once again partnered with Volkswagen of America Inc., to race at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on July 21, 2007. Co-owners, Ryan Arciero and Mark Miller will be joined by special guest and factory KTM, Red Bull, Dakar Rally Bike rider, Chris Blais. Arciero, Miller and Blais will be racing up the world famous 14,110-foot summit in three identically prepared Volkswagen V10 TDI Touaregs.

“I am excited to once again get back behind the wheel at Pikes Peak and showcase what an impressive SUV the Touareg is. With the TDI diesel engine and some improvements to our tire package that Nitto Tire has made, our three VW Touaregs are a force to be reckoned with,“ said Mark Miller.

“Volkswagen has supplied us an incredible SUV with the Touareg. The performance of the TDI diesel power plant has given us such an advantage over most of the competition. It is such an honor to drive for a company like Volkswagen at one of the oldest races in the world,” said Ryan Arciero.

In 2006, Volkswagen and Arciero-Miller Racing wrote their names into the record books as all three factory machines stood atop the podium. This year the ultra-low sulfur diesel and environmentally friendly Touaregs will be running in the High Performance Showroom stock class and the team is prepared to backup their record breaking year with another victory.

Along with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Ryan Arciero and the Arciero-Miller team will be competing in the SCORE International Terrible’s Cup III on July 20th and 21st in the No. 82 Nitto Tire Trophy Truck. This will be the first time Arciero will race in the Terrible’s one and half mile short course event.

“I am looking forward to this type of event. The head to head racing is something that I thrive on, and I believe that our Nitto Tire Trophy Truck is a perfect match for this track,” remarked Arciero.

The Terrible’s Cup will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the dirt track. With modifications to the track, fans will be up close and personal with drivers, teams and vehicles. They can also watch the entire race from the grandstands. This is unlike any SCORE race throughout the season, where normally fans only get a brief glimpse of the racing action and drivers are racing more against the clock than each other.

Follow Arciero-Miller’s racing efforts during the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and the Terrible’s Cup at www.arcieromiller.com, images and call-in logs will be updated daily. Bugatti to produce more Veyrons

Normally an addition of 15 cars to a carmaker's expected annual output is hardly news, but when it's the Bugatti Veyron, it's a different story. Fifteen additional customers will get to park the fastest street legal production car in their garage each year.

Bugatti had planned to produce 60 Veyrons per year for 5 years for a total of 300 cars, but now comes word that the Volkswagen-owned manufacturer will produce 75. VW hasn't said whether the final output number has been increased or if they intend to reach that figure sooner. Regardless, the Molsheim, France, factory will be working faster to produce more cars.

Formula One bosses fail in trademark case

Formula One bosses failed to secure exclusive rights to the sport's 'F1' abbreviation on Thursday after the Trademark Registry ruled against them.

Registry Official David Landau, relying on evidence from media coverage and online encyclopaedia Wikipedia, found that the public would recognise Formula One as a type of sport rather than a brand name.

"As Wikipedia comments, F1 is the highest class of single-seat, open-wheel formula auto racing. There is no hint in the Wikipedia references to indicate that F1 is seen as anything other than a particular form of motor racing," he said.

Landau said the fact that the Formula One Group was the only organisation organising F1 races "does not mean that the public will perceive F1 as a trademark.

"It just means that currently it enjoys a monopoly on the races. However, if private owners of F1 cars race them on a friendly basis is that not an F1 race, if not on a commercial basis?"

He rejected the trademark application by the Group's commercial rights arm, Formula One Licensing BV (FOL), and backed opposition to the move by motor racing news organisation Racing-Live SA.

No U.S. Grand Prix in 2008

There will be no United States Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2008. The eight year run of F1 races at the historic oval raceway in Indianapolis has come to a screeching halt due to disagreement over a sanctioning fee between IMS chairman Tony George and F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone.

The Indianapolis Star reports that the relationship between the sanctioning body, F1, and the track deteriorated after the '05 running of the race due to tire problems with Michelin. George didn't rule out the possibility of F1 returning to IMS in the future. Attendance at the last few U.S. Grand Prixs was low, although the race was still one of the higher-attended events on the circuit.

The paper reports that representatives from Ferrari, BMW, Toyota and Honda all consider the U.S. race to be important to their companies and that they were frustrated with Eccelstone and F1.

Armed rebels impede production at Mexican Nissan plant

An armed rebel group blew up a natural gas pipeline on Tuesday near Nissan's factory in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Nissan had to suspend production at the plant until today, when the automaker switched the natural gas operations to liquid petroleum.

Automotive News reports that a natural gas shortage as a result of the explosions also hampered production at a Honda plant in El Salto, near Guadalajara. Honda produces Accords at the plant for Mexican and Central American consumers.

The affected Nissan plant produces a number of cars for North America, including the Sentra and Versa, as well as the Plantina, Tiida, and Renault Clio for Mexican, Central and South American markets.

According to Reuters, the group claiming responsibility for the attacks is the leftist Popular Revolution Army, which carried out four separate attacks on pipelines carrying natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), crude oil and gasoline. Nissan wasn't the target for the attacks; rather, Pemex, the state-owned petroleum monopoly, was targeted.

Cadillac, Saturn diesels headed to U.S.

General Motors' top dog, Bob Lutz, said that diesel-powered Cadillac and Saturn models will make it to the United States by 2010. The V6 engine likely to wind up in the United States will first show up in the Opel Vectra in Europe next year and then make its appearance in an updated Saturn Aura and Cadillac CTS in '09 or '10.

An inside source told Automotive News that the diesel will also end up in a front-wheel-drive model based on GM's Epsilon platform, in addition to the CTS, which is rear-wheel-drive. The diesel will be designed by the Italian firm VM Motori and it's expected to displace 2.9 liters. North Americans were able to buy a VM Motori diesel engine in the Jeep Liberty from 2005-06.

Many other GM cars could potentially see the diesel engine if it's engineered to fit models that use the Epsilon platform. Cars currently riding on the Epsilon platform range from the Chevrolet Malibu, Pontiac G6, Saturn Aura and Saab 9-3 to the non-U.S. Cadillac BLS, Opel Signum and Vectra and Fiat Croma. The Saab, Cadillac and Fiat share Fiat-designed Multijet 1.9 liter four-cylinder diesel engines. The Fiat is also available with a five-cylinder diesel. The Signum and Vectra are currently available with an Isuzu diesel V6.

On GM's Fastlane Blog, Lutz said that the engine will not be 50-state compliant, at least initially. States that adopt California's emissions requirements in '09 or '10 will not see the diesel engines.

GM will show the engine in Frankfurt in September in an e-flex Opel and then again in Detroit in January under the hood of a Saturn likely using the same technology. GM's e-flex technology, showcased earlier this year on the Volt concept, is essentially a plug-in hybrid system.

LAS VEGAS—In a season that has seen a record number of entries in two of three races, the second half of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series begins next weekend in the glistening spotlight of Las Vegas with the SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup III. The two-day special stadium-style event will be held on the fan-friendly 1.5 purpose-built desert race course under the lights on the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
In a season of tight point competition, it will be a point’s race for the first time in its brief three-year history and there are a race-record 90 official entries (to date) from seven states and Mexico in the limited-field event.
Six car and truck classes will compete in the unique short-course, stadium-style event that will be part of this year’s championship point races in the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series for the first time and the event will again be held under the lights at 7 p.m. next Friday and Saturday nights on the world-class Dirt Track at LVMS. Nearly 90-percent of the specially-made ‘chunk of Baja’ 1.5 mile course will be viewable from the grandstands in the 8,026-seat facility. Competing in individual races will be the marquee SCORE Trophy-Trucks, the unlimited SCORE Class 1 open-wheel desert race cars along with open-wheelers in Class 1-2/1600, Class 10 and SCORE Lite and the competitive mini-trucks of Class 7.
Among the SCORE desert racing superstars to be showcased under the glistening lights of Las Vegas will be the Terrible Herbst Motorsports Team featuring the three Herbst brothers of Las Vegas along with teammate Larry Roeseler of Hesperia, Calif.
Ed and Tim Herbst are the winningest SCORE Trophy-Truck team in history with 11 career race wins and four season point titles in the No. 19 Terrible Herbst Motorsport Ford F-150.
With Larry Roeseler as the driver of record and Troy Herbst as the second driver this season, the pair will be racing in the legendary No. 100 Ford-powered Smithbuilt open-wheel desert race car in the unlimited Class 1. Since it’s debut in 1997, Troy Herbst has led the ‘Landshark’ to an unprecedented 22 race wins, seven Class 1 season point crowns and four SCORE Overall season point championships.
“We are extremely enthusiastic about the response to this year’s SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup III,” said Ed Herbst, President of Herbst Gaming which is co-sponsor of the event. “The first two years were phenomenal and with it being a point’s race for the first time and the enhancements being brought to the event, we are confident that this year’s event will be off the chart. Terrible Herbst loves Las Vegas, we love Sal Fish and SCORE desert racing and we are very proud to help showcase our sport and this event to our hometown.”
Bill McBeath, a native Las Vegan and UNLV graduate who is President/COO of the famed Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas, will lead a race-record 21 of the high-tech, 800-horsepower, unlimited production trucks in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck division to the world-renown LVMS facility. He drives the No. 91 Ford F-150, which is prepped by Collins Motorsports of Las Vegas.
Besides the Herbst brothers, leading the contingent of SCORE Trophy-Truck superstars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be this year’s top 5 season point leaders, three of which have drivers from Las Vegas. The SCORE Trophy-Truck field includes 10 racers who have combined to win 45 of the 80 races in the 13-plus year history of the famed SCORE racing division.
Leading the season point race in SCORE Trophy-Truck in the No. 1 Baldwin Motorsports Chevy Sivlerado is Las Vegan B.J. Baldwin with 245 points. Second is the No. 3 Riviera Racing Ford F-150 of Mark Post, San Juan Capistrano, Calif./Rob MacCachren, Las Vegas with 242 points.
Currently third in SCORE Trophy-Truck after three rounds of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series in the No. 12 Collins Motorsports Chevy Silverado of Larry Ragland, Cave Creek, Ariz./Brian Collins, Las Vegas with 233 points.
B.J. Baldwin won this year’s season opener, the 13th SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, in Laughlin in January while the Post/MacCachren team won the 21st Tecate SCORE Baja 250 in March and Ragland/Collins
won the recent Tecate SCORE Baja 500. Baldwin and Ragland/Collins repeated as champions in their respective race wins.
Flyin’ Hawaiian Alan Pflueger is fourth in SCORE Trophy-Truck points with 232 in the No. 28 Pflueger Racing Chevy Silverado and Garron Cadiente, the 2006 SCORE Rookie of the Year from Mesa, Ariz., is fifth with 225 points in the No. 38 G&R Racing Ford F-150.
In addition to the previous group, also entered in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division is Las Vegan Bobby Baldwin, who drives the No. 96 Baldwin Motorsports Chevy Silverado.
Baldwin, the President of the MGM Mirage Resorts in Las Vegas, is the father of B.J. Baldwin and the immediate supervisor of McBeath. The colorful Bobby Baldwin was also the world champion of the 1978 World Series of Poker.
Ryan Arciero, Foothill Ranch, Calif., another of the talented second-generation SCORE desert racers, will be pulling double-duty next weekend. Besides racing the No. 82 Arciero/Miller Chevy C1500 in SCORE Trophy-Truck, he will also be computing next week to race in a VW Touareg Race 2 in the Pike’s Peak Hill Climb in Colorado.
Las Vegas’ B.J. Richardson is currently leading the SCORE Overall and unlimited Class 1 point standings in his No. 108 Las Vegas Dissemination Company Bunderson-Chevy. The other point leaders entered in this race are: Dave Caspino, Woodland Hills, Calif. (Class 1-2/1600, Lothringer-VW), Dan Chamlee, Summerland, Calif. (Class 7, Ford Ranger), Lobsam Yee, Tijuana, Mexico (Class 10, Jimco-Honda) and Cameron Steele, San Clemente, Calif. (SCORE Lite, Desert Assassin-VW).
Racing will begin at 7 p.m. each night at LVMS and both nights will innclude with crowd-pleasing Terrible’s Fireworks Shows. A popular pre-race fan favorite is the meet the racers party down on the track where racers and their vehicles are available for an hour of photos and autographs.
Each class will race twice each night as full fields, while the SCORE Trophy-Trucks will be split into two heats with a full-field semi-main event on Friday and a main event on Saturday.
As a prelude to the two days of racing, the SCORE Las Vegas Pit Stop at Fremont Street Experience will be held next Thursday. At the SCORE Pit Stop, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a vehicle display and the $10,000 Terrible’s Pit Crew Challenge for SCORE Trophy-Trucks, meet the SCORE racers party for all competing SCORE racers under the multi-million dollar canopy on Fremont Street.
The event will also feature TERRIBLEvision for the first time, with a mammoth LCD screen bringing the live race action from throughout the course and scenes and interviews from the pits even more up-close and personal. Terrible’s Fireworks shows will explode each night during to the second intermission.
The tightly-timed, three-hour, 15-minute nightly event has added an exhibition event each night of the vastly popular new Trophy-Karts with drivers from 8 to 12 years old making their Las Vegas debut.
While early-arriving fans will again be able to participate in the pre-race driver autograph party and vehicle display of all vehicles entered in the race down on the race track each night from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., the first 2,500 fans each night will receive a miniature replica of the No. 19 Terrible Herbst Motorsport SCORE Trophy-Truck, the winningest truck in the history of the class.
The talented field includes 17 entries from Southern Nevada to date.
Class winners from last year who have entered are: Las Vegas’ Pat Dean (Class 1), Bryan Freeman, Henderson, Nev. (Class 1-2/1600), Broc Ross, Dear Island, Ore. (Class 7), and Cameron Steele, San Clemente, Calif. (SCORE Lite). Ironically, Dean and Steele both drew the first starts in their classes while Freeman will start the first heat race in the fifth spot and Ross will start third in his class.

Action sports television announcer Cameron Steele, another celebrity SCORE regular and a certifiable glutton for punishment, has entered three classes. The popular racer will drive his No. 16 Dessert Assassin Cadillac Escalade in SCORE Trophy-Truck and the No. 1201 Desert Assassin-VW in SCORE Lite and his same Desert Assassin-VW in the unlimited Class 1 as No. 120. Team DNF Goes To School

Dan Vance of DNF Racing went to Taft Elementary School in Riverside to visit with the students of the Advanced Readers program to talk about the importance of reading in relation to off road racing. The students of Taft Elementary School have a program setup that rewards them for the amount of books they read throughout the year in a race style format. For the students that reached the checkered flag(read all the required books to be recognized as an advanced reader), they were given the opportunity to attend an assembly where team DNF was lucky enough to get to have the race truck on display, and talk to the students. It was a GREAT time with just over 100 students attending that had met the requirements to be advanced readers of their school. I hope the students got as much out of the experience as team DNF did.. More pics to follow soon from the event in the pictures section of DNFRacing.com.

Assassins invade V-Town for SCORE Terribles Cup July 19-21

Assassins invade V-Town for SCORE Terribles Cup July 19-21

“We have taken the checkers in classes 10, SCORE Lite and 1600 and are planning on doing it again” said Desert Assassins driver Cameron Steele about this months SCORE series pilgrimage to Las Vegas July 19-21. Temperatures of 115 degrees and a newly designed competition circuit are expected to welcome racers to the 3rd annual SCORE Terribles Cup where the ‘DA’ will do battle in four of the six classes taking to the dirt of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway World of Outlaws oval.

Steele’s teammate Darren Hardesty was runner up for Dirt Sports driver of the year and he is coming into Vegas with a vengeance “Last year we swept all the races in class 10 and then on the last lap of the last race I was given a NASCAR turn around and finished second!” Darren continued “This year we are looking for a clean sweep”

The team has a history of winning in “short course” settings as Steele, who is a TV personality on the Champ Car World Series and the ESPN X Games, has won as far back as the 1986 and ‘87 SCORE Off Road World Championships held at Riverside International Raceway. Cameron has also raced motorcycles in stadium settings both in AMA Supercross and the Mickey Thompson Stadium Series so the tight confines are not unusual to him. Winning in Vegas is also not new to Steele who has 3 class wins at the legendary Mint 400 in Baja Bugs and Mid Size trucks.

Cameron comes into the event leading the championship charge for SCORE Lite in his car affectionately known as ‘Pinkie’. The ‘Pink Masher’ is neon pink, and won every race in the class here in 2006. Cameron is contesting the entire SCORE season with legacy driver Kash Vessels who has been hurting feelings when behind the wheel for the team.

Darren just recently raced his 165hp VW powered limited buggy against 53 “unlimited” 500+hp cars and finished 4th in the 39th annual Baja 500. “After winning all but one points race in 2007 and taking the championship I think people are starting to understand how gnarly Darren is and this last Baja 500 was the exclamation point to that” said Steele.

The team will also field the 800hp #16 Unbound Energy Drink SCORE Trophy Truck as well where Cameron has finished in the top 5 before. “We have led all but one lap of a main, been run into the wall, have smashed into the K rail, flipped over, had my seat belts pop off….all that is left to do in Trophy Truck is win” Steele quipped. In the past Steele has raced a smaller Trophy Truck that was converted from the ‘Pro-Truck’ class and had a considerably smaller engine than most of his fellow competitors. This year Steele will drive a Geiser Bros. Built Cadillac Escalade Trophy Truck with a Clay Andrews Racing Engine sporting more horse power than ever before. The truck will also be sporting new shoes as Yokohama Tire has developed a new 37 inch tire that has just become available to the public and will for the first time race in Las Vegas.

Also flying the DA colors will be Adam Ashcraft in 1600 who like Steele and Hardesty brings a family tradition of winning to the team. Toyo Tire Corporation Announces Extension Of Contract With Off-Road Driver Robby Gordon

Cypress, California
Jul 09, 2007

Toyo Tire (U. S.A. ) Corporation announces that it has extended the contract of Team Toyo™ Off-Road driver, Robby Gordon, through 2010. Gordon will continue to compete on Toyo’s Open Country M/T™ tires in SCORE-International off-road racing events such as the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 as well as the international Dakar® rally.

Driving his 2WD Chevy Silverado trophy truck, Gordon delivered Toyo’s first overall win in the legendary Baja 1000 in 2006 and has won races as a Team Toyo driver including the Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup II and the Best in the Desert Blue Water Resort and Casino Parker 425. At this year’s Baja 500, Gordon charged from a starting position of 22nd to finish a remarkable second overall in the event.

During Dakar 2007, Gordon piloted his Team Dakar USA Hummer H3 racer to an eighth place overall finish. In addition, the team won Stage 6 of the event, making it the first-ever Dakar stage victory for an American-made vehicle.

“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Robby Gordon. Together we have seen much success including a big win at the Baja 1000. We look forward to more great performances, both at Baja and Dakar and to apply the knowledge we have learned to future product development”, commented Steve Weinger, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Toyo Tire (U. S.A. ) Corporation.

”I am very excited to extend my relationship with Toyo Tires in Off-road racing through 2010. Toyo’s commitment to build the best off-road tires in the industry is unbelievable. Toyo has produced a tire that can withstand the terrain from the toughest of Baja to the wildest of Dakar. Everything that is learned while testing and racing is eventually used to produce the best consumer tire available. We look forward to future success with Toyo Tires and let the competition be scared, ” said Robby Gordon of his continued association with Toyo.

Formula 1 headed to India

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has signed a deal with Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone that should bring the big cars to New Delhi.

IOA president Suresh Kalmadi says the agreement is conditional on having an F1 venue approved. New Delhi does not have a motor racing circuit, however it is understood that the IOA and the government would partner and build a track near the capital.

While F1 is not an Olympic event Kalmadi told the media that the organization was involved as part of its attempt to bring as many major sporting events as possible to New Delhi ahead of the city's staging of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

Formula One has been trying to stage an event in India for 15 years. F1 boss Ecclestone has identified the sub-continent as one of the growth areas for motorsport's premier class, with interest in India gathering pace after local driver Narain Karthikeyan drove for Jordan in the 2005 season. He is currently a test driver for Williams and has attracted huge sponsorship in India.

Revamped infield part of course to provide more fireworks

Revamped infield part of course to provide more fireworks

For racers, fans at July’s SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup III

Colorful event to start with SCORE Las Vegas Pit Stop for SCORE Trophy-Trucks at Fremont Street Experience; TERRIBLEvision screen at LVMS will bring the race even more up close and personal

LAS VEGAS—SCORE International’s Sal Fish always has had a good listening ear for the desert racers in his series, but SCORE’s President and CEO took it a step further this week when he invited the SCORE Trophy-Truck drivers entered in next month’s SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup III to meet with him at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to help revamp the fan-friendly 1.5-mile purpose-built desert race course.

The result was a reworked infield portion closest to the grandstands with more exciting twists, turns and jumps for both the racers and the fans who will be part of Round 4 of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series to be held July 19-21 on the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

A champions point’s race for the first time, there are a race-record 83 official entries (to date) from six states and Mexico in the six competing classes. Bill McBeath, a native Las Vegan and UNLV graduate who is President/COO of the famed Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas, will lead a race-record 22 of the high-tech, 800-horsepower, unlimited production trucks in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck division to the world-renown LVMS facility. He drives the No. 91 Ford F-150, which is prepped by Collins Motorsports of Las Vegas.

Besides McBeath, who is in his rookie SCORE racing season in SCORE Trophy-Truck, the other SCORE Trophy-Truck drivers who kept the heat on Fish for two hours under the scorching Las Vegas sun on Monday were: Ryan Arciero, Bobby Baldwin, B.J. Baldwin, Larry Ragland, Pete Sohren, Cameron Steele and Ed Stout. Joining the group by phone was Las Vegan Ed Herbst, whose family-owned company, Terrible Herbst, Inc., is the co-title sponsor of the event with Las Vegas Events.

“It was great to have these SCORE racers actually come on site and work through part of the course with us and offer opinions not only for the racers, but also for the fans in the grandstands,” said Fish, who has been the SCORE President and CEO since soon after SCORE was started in 1973. “After nearly two hours of open dialogue, it was easy to see why Bobby Baldwin is President of the MGM Mirage Resorts. He articulately and artistically helped the drivers recap and summarize the significant changes they would like SCORE to make, especially on the entrance and exit from the infield of the Dirt Track at LVMS. The driver’s input was phenomenal and will help us produce better racing for the racers and more excitement for the fans.”

Besides the course enhancements, which will also include special Baja and Southern Nevada-themed landscaping around portions of the track, two three-truck wide dirt ramps will be built for entering and leaving the stadium as well as a special ‘Fish hook’ turn after the Terrible’s Finish Line jump prior to exiting the infield.

The event will also feature TERRIBLEvision for the first time, with a mammoth LCD screen bringing the live race action from throughout the course and scenes and interviews from the pits even more up-close and personal. Terrible’s Fireworks shows will explode each night, moved to the second intermission.

The tightly-timed, three-hour, 15-minute nightly event has added an exhibition event each night of the vastly popular new modified Trophy-Karts with drivers from 8 to 12 years old making their Las Vegas debut.

While early-arriving fans will again be able to participate in the pre-race driver autograph party and vehicle display of all vehicles entered in the race down on the race track each night, the first 2,500 fans each night will receive a miniature replica of the No. 19 Terrible Herbst Motorsport SCORE Trophy-Truck, the winningest truck in the history of the class.

Six car and truck classes will compete in the unique short-course, stadium-style event that will be part of this year’s championship point races in the 2007 SCORE Desert Series for the first time and the event will again be held under the lights on a Friday and Saturday night at the world-class Dirt Track at LVMS. With entries excepted until the morning for the race, nearly 90 of the best racers from the SCORE Desert Series are expected to be in the starting grid for this exciting racing extravaganza.

Racing will begin at 7 p.m. each night at LVMS and both nights will conclude with crowd-pleasing Terrible’s Fireworks Shows. A popular pre-race fan favorite is the meet the racers party down on the track where racers and their vehicles are available for an hour of photos and autographs.

Nearly 90-percent of the specially-made ‘chunk of Baja’ 1.5 mile course will be viewable from the grandstands in the 8,026-seat facility. Competing in their own races will be the marquee SCORE Trophy-Trucks, the unlimited SCORE Class 1 open-wheel desert race cars along with open-wheelers in Class 1-2/1600, Class 10 and SCORE Lite and the competitive mini-trucks of Class 7.

As a prelude to the two days of racing, the SCORE Las Vegas Pit Stop at Fremont Street Experience will be held on Thursday, July 19. At the SCORE Pit Stop, starting at 6 p.m., there will be a vehicle display and the

$10,000 Terrible’s Pit Crew Challenge for SCORE Trophy-Trucks, meet the SCORE racers party for all competing SCORE racers under the multi-million dollar canopy on Fremont Street.

The first two SCORE Trophy-Truck race winners in the SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup, Marty Coyne of El Centro, Calif., and NASCAR’s Robby Gordon of Charlotte, N.C., are both back to add some additional fireworks to the star-studded field.

Among the SCORE desert racing superstars to be showcased under the glistening lights of Las Vegas will be the Terrible Herbst Motorsports Team featuring the three Herbst brothers of Las Vegas along with Larry Roeseler of Hesperia, Calif.

Besides the R. Gordon, M. Coyne, and the Herbst brothers, leading the contingent of SCORE Trophy-Truck superstars to Las Vegas Motor Speedway will be this year’s top 5 season point leaders, three of which have drivers from Las Vegas. The SCORE Trophy-Truck field includes 12 racers who have combined to win 52 of the 80 races in the 13-plus year history of the famed SCORE racing division.

B.J. Baldwin won this year’s season opener, the 13th SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, in Laughlin in January while the Post/MacCachren team won the 21st Tecate SCORE Baja 250 in March and Ragland/Collins won the recent Tecate SCORE Baja 500. Badlwin and Ragland/Collins repeated as champions in their respective race wins.

Celebrity racer Jesse James, Sunset Beach, Calif., star of the old Monster Garage TV series, will drive for the first time in this event, driving his No. 54 West Coast Choppers Racing Chevy Silverado.

Tim Gendreau, owner of Racer Off-Road in Phoenix and a veteran sports car road racer, will make his SCORE debut, driving the No. 47 Racer Off-Road Chevy Silverado, he will start on the pole in the second heat.

Action sports television announcer Cameron Steele, another celebrity SCORE regular, has entered two classes. The popular racer will drive his No. 16 Dessert Assassin Cadillac Escalade in SCORE Trophy-Truck and the No. 1201 Desert Assassin-VW in SCORE Lite. The popular Steele, who leads the point standings in SCORE Lite and will spend his free time at the event as one of the event Public Address announcers, will be computing between San Jose and Las Vegas during the race. He will be a pit reporter for the TV broadcast of the Champ Car open-wheel race in the Bay Area.

The talented field includes 14 entries from Southern Nevada to date.

The other class winners from last year who have entered are: Las Vegas’ Pat Dean (Class 1), Bryan Freeman, Henderson, Nev.

Each class will race twice each night as full fields, while the SCORE Trophy-Trucks will be split into two heats with a full-field semi-main event on Friday and a main event on Saturday.

Fans can order single-day reserved or general admission tickets or special two-day SCORE Combo packages online starting today at the event website at www.scorelasvegas.com or by calling UNLVtickets.com at 866.388.FANS, locally at 739.FANS. SCORE Pit Passes are also now on sale.
