G&R Primm 300 Race Report

Heating up the Nevada desert just outside of Las Vegas was the 13th Annual Terrible's Primm 300, marking round 4 of SCORE International's 5-race desert racing series.
Looking to defend his overall and class win from last year's SCORE Terrible's Primm 300 was G&R Racing's Garron Cadiente in the #38 Geiser-built Trophy Truck. Drawing a 17th starting position, Cadiente was quick to announce his strategy for repeating last year's impressive victory and conquering all four laps of the 72 mile loop course. "I gotta pin it to win it! This course is fast and we have to keep on pace all day." Cadiente further added, "This will be the first race for Jeff Whiteman who will be my co-driver for the first two laps and it will also be the first race for our new team sponsor - Empire Cat Southwest. We have stepped up our program and made a lot of exciting changes and we are definitely looking to repeat last year's victory."
Gaining and maintaining the 5 position within the first lap, Garron was well on his way to claiming a podium finish in #38 when a rocker arm failed in the 2nd lap of the race. "It's a disappointing ending to what looked like a promising race. Everything on the truck was working awesome. We definitely had the suspension dialed in and we put the King Shocks to the test out there. I am a little upset that we couldn't repeat last year's victory but all in all, I think we had a great showing," said Cadiente at the pits after the race.
Taking home an impressive third place finish in SCORE's Trophy Truck class and a fourth place overall was the driving team of Ron Whitton and Todd LeDuc in the #39 Geiser-built Trophy Truck. Starting almost dead last in the 21st position in a field of 22 class competitors, the Whitton / LeDuc team proved they were a force to be reckoned with early on when just after the first lap LeDuc had worked his way up to the 4th position.
"Todd and his co-driver, Eric Whiteman, did a heck of a job out there! I stepped into the truck at the main pit and completed the third and fourth laps of the race. LeDuc handed me over a truck that was in third place and me and my co-driver, Gerald King, held every one off and kept the position the rest of the race. The track was getting torn-up and rough at the end and we could barely see in front of the truck. Passing was next to impossible out there," said Whitton at the podium after the race. "There was some tough competition and I think one little slip-up would have cost us our third place finish. Fortunately, we are running the Toyo Tires and we have had nothing but good luck and not a single flat during our run."
