Continental will provide General tires to inaugural off-road class

General will be the spec tire for the Ivan "Ironman" Stewart ProTruck off-road class in 2008.

Continental Tire North America Inc. will supply its General Grabber tires, which will make their debut on all ProTruck class vehicles at the Baja 500.

"Ivan is one of the most accomplished drivers in off-road racing, and it is gratifying that he has placed his trust in these tires in their inaugural season," says Travis Roffler, Continental's director of marketing.

The General Grabber competition tire is designed with a tough, three-ply Duragen-reinforced body construction to stand up to the rigors of off-road conditions. It also features a newly-developed competition-specific tread compound.

In addition, the Grabber name and General Tire logo are prominently featured on the sidewall in red and white letters. The competition tire is available in size 37x 12.50R17 for the following classes: 1, 7S, 7 unlimited, 8 and trophy truck.
