Foothill Ranch, Calif. (July 12th, 2007) — Arciero-Miller Racing, one of the nations most accomplished off-road racing teams is gearing up to pull double duty for the month of July. This is the first time in Arciero-Miller Racing history that the team has entered two separate races in two different states coinciding on the same weekend. The team is competing in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado Springs, Colo., and the SCORE International Terrible’s Cup III in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Southern California based, Arciero-Miller Racing has once again partnered with Volkswagen of America Inc., to race at Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on July 21, 2007. Co-owners, Ryan Arciero and Mark Miller will be joined by special guest and factory KTM, Red Bull, Dakar Rally Bike rider, Chris Blais. Arciero, Miller and Blais will be racing up the world famous 14,110-foot summit in three identically prepared Volkswagen V10 TDI Touaregs.
“I am excited to once again get back behind the wheel at Pikes Peak and showcase what an impressive SUV the Touareg is. With the TDI diesel engine and some improvements to our tire package that Nitto Tire has made, our three VW Touaregs are a force to be reckoned with,“ said Mark Miller.
“Volkswagen has supplied us an incredible SUV with the Touareg. The performance of the TDI diesel power plant has given us such an advantage over most of the competition. It is such an honor to drive for a company like Volkswagen at one of the oldest races in the world,” said Ryan Arciero.
In 2006, Volkswagen and Arciero-Miller Racing wrote their names into the record books as all three factory machines stood atop the podium. This year the ultra-low sulfur diesel and environmentally friendly Touaregs will be running in the High Performance Showroom stock class and the team is prepared to backup their record breaking year with another victory.
Along with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Ryan Arciero and the Arciero-Miller team will be competing in the SCORE International Terrible’s Cup III on July 20th and 21st in the No. 82 Nitto Tire Trophy Truck. This will be the first time Arciero will race in the Terrible’s one and half mile short course event.
“I am looking forward to this type of event. The head to head racing is something that I thrive on, and I believe that our Nitto Tire Trophy Truck is a perfect match for this track,” remarked Arciero.
The Terrible’s Cup will take place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on the dirt track. With modifications to the track, fans will be up close and personal with drivers, teams and vehicles. They can also watch the entire race from the grandstands. This is unlike any SCORE race throughout the season, where normally fans only get a brief glimpse of the racing action and drivers are racing more against the clock than each other.
