Race Tracking International and IRC partner to provide internet tracking for the Baja 1000

A new partnership has been announced between Race Tracking International (RTI) and International Racing Consultants (IRC) to provide state of the art satellite tracking for the 40th running of the legendary Tecate-SCORE Baja 1000 off-road race. IRC has supplied race teams with satellite tracking systems for both race and support vehicles which collect satellite GPS coordinates and other data. All race vehicles that are running the IRC system will be displayed on the RTI website. The RTI website will be for friends, family, and fans that can access the progress of their favorite teams.

Features on the RTI website will include photos and videos of contingency day, selected major pit stops, on course photos to visualize what the racers are experiencing, and exclusive pre and post race parties. Another unique feature RTI will provide is the personalization of team symbols. Instead of just watching a blip on a computer screen the spectators will be able to scroll over their favorite team symbols and a heads-up display will show team info, pictures, and links to team websites. In conjunction with Google Maps the RTI website will show fans the exact course that their favorite drivers are racing in real time. Updates on race progress will occur every 2 minutes, showing virtually exact locations of the race cars.

Wide Open Adventures, one of the first teams to sign on with Race Tracking International in 2006, will have 18 race vehicles. In addition, 16 Class 1 teams, 6 Trophy Truck Teams, 11 ProTruck Teams, and 16 other classes will be represented. There will be 120 vehicles overall running on the Race Tracking International website.
