LOS ANGELES—After 1,692.50 dusty and rugged desert racing miles, 14 of the world’s best desert racers have survived the challenges of the 2008 SCORE Desert Series to earn coveted 2008 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards. The 14 drivers earned their prestigious honors by finishing every required mile in the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series

The 2008 SCORE Toyota Milestone Award winners will all be honored Saturday night (Dec. 6)along with the 2008 SCORE Desert Series point champions and 2008 SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year winners at Terrible’s Primm Valley Resort in Primm, Nev.

Leading this year’s class of SCORE Toyota Milestone Award Winners are four drivers who have earned their third honor since this award was instituted in 1986.

Making up the group of triple winners are: B.J. Baldwin, Las Vegas, SCORE Trophy-Truck Ford F-150 (2006, 2007, 2008); Damen Jefferies, Apple Valley, Calif., SCORE Trophy-Truck, Chevy Silverado (1997, 1999, 2008); Rod Hall, Reno, Nev., Stock Mini (1987, 1988, 2008) and Donald Moss, Sacramento, Calif., Class 3, Ford Bronco (2004, 2006, 2008).

Toyota is presenting these prestigious awards to the world’s toughest desert racers for the 23rd consecutive year.

“Toyota is proud to honor the world’s best desert racing drivers,” said Les Unger, national motorsports manager at Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. “For over two decades, we have had the privilege of presenting the SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards to the toughest racers on the planet.”

Rod Hall will be joined on the stage by his son Chad Hall who won a SCORE Toyota Milestone this year in the Stock Full class in a Hummer H3Alpha. This marks the first time in the history of the award that a father and son have both won the award.

Besides Chad Hall, the other drivers winning their first SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards this season were: Robbie Pierce, Chuck Dempsey, B.J. Richardson, Cory Boyer, Adam Pfankuch, Kevin Carr, Marcos Nunez, Heidi Steele and Ramon Fernandez.

Steele is the first female driver to have ever earned this award.

Season finale of five-race 2008 SCORE Desert Series to be held in Ensenada, Mexico, Nov. 19-23

LOS ANGELES—Following the first four of five races in the 2008 SCORE Desert Series, 15 of SCORE’s toughest drivers are in the hunt to earn 2008 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards.
A Nevada father and son team leads the way as Reno’s Rod Hall drives a Hummer H3 in the Stock Mini class and his youngest son Chad drives a Hummer H3Alpha in Stock Full.
Giving Nevada four of the 15 racers still in the hunt for 2008 Toyota Milestone Awards are Las Vegas’ B.J. Baldwin and B.J. Richardson. Baldwin leads the points in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division in the No. 97 Baldwin Motorsports Chevy Silverado while Richards leads the unlimited Class 1 in a Chevy-powered Bunderson open-wheel desert race cars.
The finale of the 2008 SCORE Desert Series will be the 41st Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, to be held Nov. 19-23 in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, 65 miles south of San Diego.
Over 300 total entries are expected to compete in 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs. The live drawing for starting positions, by class, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the new Off Road Warehouse facility in Temecula, Calif. With refreshments, vehicle displays and racer appearances from Noon until 5 p.m., the drawing will start at 2 p.m.

Entering the season finale the 2008 SCORE Desert Series, SCORE Trophy-Truck with three and the unlimited Class 1 and Class 1-2/1600 with two each lead the way with eligible drivers for 2008 SCORE Toyota Milestone awards.
This year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 race course will cover nearly 650 miles of Baja California, from Ensenada to Ojos Negros, to Mexicali to San Felipe to the Mike’s Sky Ranch area to the Pacific Coast up through Santo Tomas, back inland to Ojos Negros and back to Ensenada.
Racers from at least 30 U.S. States and a dozen countries are expected to compete in this year’s Granddaddy of all desert races.

LOS ANGELES—Following the first two of five races in the 2008 SCORE Desert Series, 22 of SCORE’s toughest drivers are in the hunt to earn 2008 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards.
A pair of Nevada father and son teams lead the way as Las Vegas’ Bobby Baldwin and his son B.J. Baldwin race in separate Chevy Silverado trucks in the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division while Reno’s Rod Hall drives a Hummer H3 in the Stock Mini class and his youngest son Chad drives a Hummer H3Alpha in Stock Full.
Giving Nevada six of the 22 racers in the hunt for 2008 Toyota Milestone Awards are Las Vegas teammates B.J. Richardson and Pat Dean who race in the unlimited Class 1 in near-identical Chevy-powered Bunderson open-wheel desert race cars.
Round 3 of the 2008 SCORE Desert Series will be the 40th anniversary of the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, to be held May 29-June 1 in Ensenada, Mexico, on the western side of the Baja California peninsula along the Pacific Ocean 65 miles south of the U.S. Border at San Diego.
With nearly 350 total entries expected to compete in 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes in the popular race, the computerized drawing for starting positions, by class, will be held this weekend at the headquarters of SCORE International in Los Angeles.

Pre-race festivities at 40th Tecate SCORE Baja 500 will include the colorful SCORE Manufacturer’s Midway and tech inspection in downtown Ensenada from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday (May 30).
The race itself will start in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 31 and the course will close in the elapsed-time race during the early morning hours of Sunday, June 1.
