El Centro, CA – A new era of off-road desert racing in the Imperial Valley will begin in Jan of 2009. DRIVE Racing will hold a full season of racing in the Plaster City, Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area. Truck and buggy racers will now have a second option for a race promoter in this popular racing area. Located only 1 ½ hours East from San Diego, CA, and 1 hour West of Yuma, AZ, Plaster City is fun and easy to access for hundreds of off road racing teams. The new race series will be “racer-centered”, providing racer friendly courses and environment. All “standard” racing classes will be incorporated, featuring new-upcoming classes including TROPHYLITE.

The new series will features six races (5-points races) will begin in Jan 2009. DRIVE’s mission is safe, professional, fun, and fair “Grass-Roots” Desert Racing. The DRIVE team has years of experience in the desert racing environment through volunteering for various desert race series. When asked how the DRIVE series will stand-out from the crowd, DRIVE President Jon Schleif had this to say, “We have planned a sustainable race series…it (racing in Plaster City) is about more than just showing up and collecting money…a promoter has to be truly involved in the Imperial Valley Off-Highway community and join the fight to keep our OHV areas open”. DRIVE VP Doug Wasser went on to say, “The race courses will be painstakingly marked, there will be no confusion on where to go”. DRIVE will offer contingency as well as class bonuses for large class turnouts.

DRIVE racing is currently seeking race and contingency sponsors for the 2009 season. DRIVE would also like to welcome upcoming racing classes to become part of the 2009 DRIVE series. DRIVE also encourages race-class representatives to contact us and help establish a Competition Review Board (CRB) and class rep. group.
