Dowd Sweeps Vet Weekend at Ford Mammoth Motocross

McGrath Edged into Second, Kyle Lewis Takes Third, Racing Continues

Mammoth Mountain, CA – After two days of strong racing and perfect weather, the Dunlop Vet weekend at the Ford Mammoth Motocross closed with a battle to be remembered between Suzuki’s John Dowd and Jeremy McGrath. With fans surrounding the track, the two battled back and forth for the lead over two days and four motos, all which came down to the final lap. Dowd finally took the win and the overall title for the weekend when McGrath developed a front flat tire with half a lap to go. Kyle Lewis finished third overall, also with an outstanding series of rides.

This was Dowd’s third trip to the Ford Mammoth Motocross and he was finally able to steal the vet title from McGrath, winning all four motos of the 40 expert class and edging out Thor’s Victor Sheldon in the process. It seems “Mr. Dowd” has finally paid his dues at Mammoth and his efforts will become legendary.
