Wind Zero Group Proposes $100M Training Area in Imperial County

Wind Zero Group Inc. of San Diego submitted initial plans to the Imperial County government May 1 for a $100 million facility to be used for motor sports, law enforcement training and military training.

As envisioned, the complex will occupy 963 acres near the Octotillo town site,
20 miles west of El Centro.

The complex will offer shooting ranges, a driving track and a simulated urban setting for military, law enforcement and emergency responder training.

Wind Zero President Jeff Everage said there is “a desperate need” for such a facility within a reasonable driving distance of San Diego. Everage said company managers are military veterans who had to travel far to participate in realistic military training.

Builders also want to offer a members-only race track for motor sports enthusiasts. Membership would be similar to a country club.

The development would bring hundreds of jobs to the Imperial Valley, Wind Zero CEO Brandon Webb said.
