CHAD HALL TIGHTENS GRIP ON CLASS 8100 POINTS LEAD AT ‘LAS VEGAS 300’

Reno, NV - October 12, 2007: Team HUMMER’s Chad
Hall, driving the #8111 H1 Alpha Pickup drove a solid race to
finish second in Best in the Desert’s ‘Las Vegas 300’, on Octo-
ber 6th in Jean, Nevada, 15 miles south of Las Vegas. The finish
extended Team HUMMER’s Class 8100 points lead over Greg
Foutz in the #8102 Ford F-250 who moved up to second in points
after this race. The final event on the Best in the Desert Racing
Schedule is ‘Henderson’s Terrible 400’Nov. 30 - Dec. 2 in Hend-
erson, Nevada. The H1 needs only to finish in Henderson to
clinch the 2007 Class 8100 points championship in Best in the Desert Racing Association’s Silver State
Series. HUMMER halted production of the H1 earlier this year and Henderson will be the final race for
the #8111 H1 Alpha Pickup which will be replaced by the new H2 SUT, scheduled to debut at the SCORE
‘Baja 1000’in November. It is fitting that the H1 Alpha Pickup, the flagship of the HUMMER brand, finish
it’s distinguished racing career as the Class 8100 production class champion.
The #8111 Team HUMMER Pickup was the first Class 8100 truck off the line on the first of three
82 mile loops in the ‘Las Vegas 300’. From the start the rear suspension felt a little off, possibly because
the stiffer spring setup we were using reduced the rear suspension travel by two inches. Nonetheless, the
car was working well but was struggling to keep up with Foutz, in his #8102 Ford F-250, through the rough
terrain and the race was mostly rough terrain. We had some early challenges from Mike Alden in the
#8131 Ford and Dave Morrison in the #8103 Ford but Kreg Donahoe in the #8108 Ford Powerstroke, who
started the race second in the points chase, hit a rock 29 miles into the first lap and broke his transfer case
putting him out of the race. As we came around for the start of the second lap, the #8111 Team HUM-
MER H1 Pickup was running in third, six minutes behind Foutz in the #8102 Ford and one minute behind
Alden, who was in second in the #8131 Ford. By the end of the second lap, we had passed the #8131 Ford
and moved into second but the #8102 Ford was holding on to his lead. On the final lap the H1 broke a heim
joint on the right-rear shock which put an end to any thoughts we
had about taking it to the next level to challenge the #8102 Ford
for the lead. With the third place #8103 truck only 16 minutes
back, Chad was content to maintain his pace and settle for the
second place finish.
This was a positive outcome for the Team HUMMER H1
Alpha Pickup. The second place finish extended our lead for the
Class 8100 points championship from 27 to 50 points and, in spite
of the broken heim joint on the final lap, the truck performed well
all day. Now it’s on to Henderson and Best in the Desert Racing Association’s Silver State Series Class
8100 Points Championship.

A1 boss casts an eye towards F1

October 12, 2007

By Alan Baldwin

London, England - A1GP boss Tony Teixeira is interested in buying into Formula 1 after securing a deal with champion Ferrari to power his own series.

The South African businessman said on Thursday: "I'm looking around. I've been speaking to two or three teams that are maybe for sale.

"If I find the right deal that makes sense and it's the right price and I think that I can get up to the top 10 positions in F1 - I'm not going to do it to come last - then I'll make a deal," he added.

Toro Rosso and Spyker are each Ferrari-powered, although the latter has just been sold for $124-million (about R835-million) to a consortium led by Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya and Dutch entrepreneur Michiel Mol

'If I find the right deal that makes sense and it's the right price - then I'll make a deal'
.

Toro Rosso is half-owned by Austrian energy drink billionaire Dietrich Mateschitz, who also owns the Red Bull team, and Austria's former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger.

It showed its potential when German rookie Sebastian Vettel finished fourth in the Chinese GP on October 7.

Teixeira confirmed that Toro Rosso was a prospect, saying he had stepped aside in favour of Mallya at struggling.

"I want to be as close to the pinnacle of motorsport as I can," he said. "We don't want to be playing with it. If I do get involved with an F1 team, it will be as an insider."

Teixeira said A1, with its emphasis on driver skill rather than technology, would never be a rival to Formula 1 but could become more of a feeder series. - Reuters

DIXON BROS. WIN CLASS 7100 AT BEST IN THE DESERT’S ‘LAS VEGAS 300’

Jean, NV- October 6, 2007: Aaron Dixon, with Ed Ramirez in
the navigator’s seat, drove the Dixon Bros. Racing #7177 Ford Ranger
to the Class 7100 victory, on October 6th, at Best in the Desert racing
Association’s ‘Las Vegas 300’ in Jean, Nevada. After leading most of
the race the win virtually assures the Dixon Bros. of the 2007 Class
7100 points championship in Best in the Desert’s Silver State Series.
With only one race remaining on the 2007 BitD racing schedule, the
finish gives the Dixon Bros. a commanding lead of 102 points in the
race for the Class 7100 points title. “We had a perfect day,” said team
owner, Aaron Dixon. “I drove the truck about 80% and beat everyone by about 20min. That win also wrapped up the
Class 7100 Championship for us and we only have to start the Henderson race to make it official.”
The Dixon Bros. have had their share of frustrations this year, having overcome problems at the first three races
to record second, third and fourth place finishes while working in their Lompoc, California shop between events to get
their new 2007 Ford Ranger 2WD truck dialed in. The team’s consistency has been the main factor that put them in the
lead for the class points championship and this win assures that they will finish on top. “It looks like we got all of the
little problems fixed”, said Aaron Dixon after the race. “It was great to finally realize our truck’s potential.”
Dixon Bros Racing has been a family effort since the beginning. Brothers Aaron and Ian share the driving duties
while Jim Dixon (father) helps prep the vehicles and support the race team in the pits. The other side of Dixon Bros
Racing would be the Ramirez Family. Manny and Andrea Ramirez,
their Sons Ed and Phil, and grandson Andrew all help out from Codriving
and working on the race truck to firing up the BBQ after a long
day on the course. Racing wouldn’t be possible without the Ramirez’s
support.
We also want to thank our corporate partners, Amsoil Lubricants,
Deaver Spring Company, Ford Truck Motorsports, Goodyear
Tire & Rubber, Premier Racing Products (PRP), Racer-X Motorsports,
Radflo Suspension Technology and Off Road Warehouse (ORW). Without
their help and participation, our success this year would not have been possible.
The last race on the 2007 Dixon Bros. Racing Schedule is Best in the Desert Racing Association’s ‘Henderson’s
Terrible 400’, Nov 30-Dec 2 in Henderson, Nevada. The Dixon Bros.are looking forward to closing out their season
at Henderson and hope to put the #7177 Ford Ranger in the winner’s circle for the second consecutive time.

Featuring over 400 entries, season finale of six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series
To be a peninsula run in Mexico, Nov. 11-16

LOS ANGELES—Heading into November’s season-ending 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in Mexico and following five of six races in the 2007 SCORE Desert Series, 24 of SCORE’s toughest drivers are still in the hunt to earn 2007 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards. In addition, three of those racers could split this year’s $12,000 SCORE Toyota True Grit Awards.
Open pre-running starting at race-mile 37.67 begins Saturday. Practice on the first section of the course will be allowed Nov. 9 through Nov. 12. This year’s race course will feature 10 outlying checkpoints where each vehicle is required to quickly stop before continuing on.
To be held Nov. 11-16, this year’s historic 40th anniversary odyssey of the world’s most famous desert race will be a grueling and memorable 1,296.39-mile adventure down Mexico’s mysterious Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Sur.
An amazing total of 392 vehicles from 40 U.S. States and 13 countries are entered to date and the length of the course is second only to the SCORE Baja 2000, the over 1,700-mile journey that started the new millennium that also was the only other time the race finished in Cabo San Lucas in its storied history.
The four-wheel vehicle classes with the most entries to date are SCORE Trophy-Truck (31), Class 1 (30), Class 5/1600 and Class 1-2/1600 (22 each), Baja Challenge (18), SCORE Lite (17), and Protruck (12).

Leading the six Sportsman classes in the race is Sportsman Motorcycle over 250cc which has 46 entries to date.
This year’s memorable internationally-televised adventure will cover the length of the rugged and tortuous Baja California peninsula, starting on the Pacific Ocean side and stretching across and down the majestic peninsula to the Sea of Cortez side and back to the Pacific before hugging the coastline to the finish line on the southernmost tip of Baja.
Over 400 entries from 40 U.S. States and 15 countries, competing in 28 Pro and 6 Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs are expected to be part of this year’s 40th anniversary tribute to the world’s richest and most famous desert race. The granddaddy of all desert races is the season-finale of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series, the world’s foremost desert racing series.
The motorcycle and ATV classes will start their journey at 6:30 a.m. (PST) (Tuesday, Nov. 13) with the car and truck classes starting at approximately 11 a.m. (PST), or three hours after the last ATV leaves the line. The starting line will be on Blvd. Costero in front of the Riviera del Pacifico Cultural Center in Ensenada. Vehicles will leave in 30-second intervals in the elapsed-time race and while the fastest finishers are expected to complete the course in approximately 22 hours.
The finish line area in Cabo San Lucas will be inside the Campos de Futbol “Yenecamu” soccer fields next to the Villa del Palmar Resort, the official SCORE race headquarters. The SCORE Media Center and SCORE Race Operations will both be located at the Villa del Palmar. Passing times from all BFGoodrich Tires pit locations, of all vehicles, will be posted there as well to assist in monitoring the race progress.
This year’s Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race will be televised on a delayed basis as a one-hour NBC Sports special for the fourth consecutive year, airing on Dec. 30 on the NBC Television Network. It will also air on a delayed basis outside of the U.S. on ESPN International.
Toyota is presenting these prestigious awards to the world’s toughest desert racers for the 22nd consecutive year. The Toyota Milestone awards will go to those drivers who finish every required mile of every race in the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series, the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series.

The $12,000 SCORE Toyota Truce Grit bonus purse will be split among the point champions in the non-factory supported classes of Class 1-2/1600, Class 5, Class 10 and SCORE Lite. A total of nine drivers in three of those four classes are still eligible to receive an equal share of the $12,000 SCORE Toyota True Grit bonus purse for 2007.
After five races over rugged desert terrain in the U.S. and Mexico, 24 total racers in nine classes are still in the hunt for 2007 SCORE Toyota Milestone Awards.

SCORE International Announces Six-Race Schedule for 2008 SCORE Desert Series

Schedule includes 40th anniversary celebration of increasingly-popular Tecate SCORE Baja 500

LOS ANGELES—Completing its 34th year as the World’s foremost desert racing sanctioning body, SCORE International officially announced today its six-race schedule for the 2008 SCORE Desert Series.
Keeping the same venues and all but one of the same race weekends for its five open desert races and one stadium-style short-course event as the past three years, the 2008 SCORE Desert Series will again feature three races in Southern Nevada and three in Mexico.
“We have incredible marketing partners on both sides of the border, the world’s greatest desert racers and the world’s toughest race courses, so we will make only minor changes for the 2008 SCORE season,” said Sal Fish, CEO/President of SCORE, which is based in Los Angeles. “Our six-race schedule in both the U.S. and Mexico offers tremendous variety for the racers, sponsors, media and fans. We will have some major news at our season-ending SCORE Awards Night in December regarding our plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Tecate SCORE Baja 500”
“With necessary restrictions in place for spectators in the U.S. still our attendance continues to rise, but in Mexico, it’s absolutely unbelievable. Our crowds for the last six races in Baja California have averaged over 300,000, and SCORE racers are as popular in Baja California as any racing figures in the world. From a participant perspective, there have never been more desert racers and SCORE entries continue to rise at a phenomenal rate of over 25 percent for the last three years.”
The SCORE Desert Series, which features 28 Pro and six Sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycle and ATVs, will kick off Jan. 24-27 with the popular 14th Annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge in the Southern Nevada resort city of Laughlin on the banks of the Colorado River. The season will conclude Nov. 19-22 with the 41st Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the granddaddy of all desert racing.
“The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge is the most unique and increasingly popular desert race in the U.S. and the legendary Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 is the best known desert race in the world,” added Fish, who has been at the head of SCORE since 1974. “These two races provide wonderful ways to start and finish our SCORE racing season.”
SCORE also announced the SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup IV, will be held July 17-19 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. With final negotiations underway, SCORE anticipates the final announcement regarding the 2008 special short-course point’s race for select classes on the Dirt Track at LVMS to be made in late October.
The 2008 SCORE Desert Series will again start with the most unique and the shortest race of the season and finish with the oldest and most recognized desert race in the world. After starting the season in Laughlin, 90 miles south of Las Vegas, it will conclude with the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, which will be is always a unique and memorable special race.
Since its debut in 1995, the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge has helped establish Laughlin as a viable host for special events. Thousands of spectators join over 200 racers and their crews in converging on the city each year to watch the best of the best desert racers compete in a unique-format, two-day race that includes a temporary stadium surrounding the start/finish line area and the main pits.
A total of 18 different Pro and two Sportsman classes for cars and trucks are split into seven groups in Laughlin, each running as part of one of seven races of three to six laps each over the much-abbreviated course each day. The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge also includes a pre-race activity that is not part of any other race on the schedule—the $25,000 Laughlin Leap. The Laughlin Leap is held under the lights on Thursday evening of race week at the Laughlin Events Park.
Round 2 and 3 of the 2008 SCORE Desert Series will both be held in Mexico. The 22nd Tecate SCORE Baja 250 is set for March 14-15, followed by the 40th anniversary of the vastly popular Tecate SCORE Baja 500, May 30-June 1, in Ensenada, Baja California.
SCORE will announce the exact sites in Baja California for both the Tecate SCORE Baja 250 and the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 when final negotiations are complete with the state and local governments involved.
The series returns to Southern Nevada for Round 4 and Round 5. Round 4 will be the special SCORE Las Vegas Terrible’s Cup IV short-course event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Round 5 will be the 13th Annual SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 which will be held Sept. 5-6 in Primm, Nev., 45 miles south of Las Vegas.
SCORE International, founded in 1973 by the late Mickey Thompson and headed by Sal Fish since 1974, continues today as the premier sanctioning body in the sport of desert racing. SCORE races feature 18 Pro and three Sportsman classes for cars and trucks in the U.S. with 10 additional Pro and three more Sportsman classes for motorcycles and ATVs competing in the races in Mexico. SCORE races in the U.S. average 200 entries while the average in Mexico, with motorcycle and ATV classes running as well as the cars and trucks is 350.
Current SCORE official annual sponsors are: BFGoodrich Tires-official tire, Sunoco Race Fuels/Bryant Petroleum-official fuel supplier, Bilstein-official shock, Volkswagen-official vehicle, Instant Mexico Auto Insurance-official Mexican auto insurance, American Racing ATX Series-official wheel, Slime-official tire sealant, Red Bull--official energy drink and Bosch Power Tools-official power tool. Foutz Motorsports LV 300

After a few races filled with challenges the Foutz Motorsports team came up winners at the Las Vegas 300. The just under 300 mile course was rough this year which gave Greg Foutz and the team the upper hand. Starting 2nd off the line the truck was in the lead by mile 5 passing the Hummer of Chad Hall and never looked back. This was the first win and the first perfect run, a great race and a big accomplishment with the teams newest truck. "we had a clean perfect run, we didn’t stop for anything but some fuel all day. Not a flat tire or anything" commented Foutz at the finish line. A perfect day in off-road racing is a big deal and very rare.

This race was very special for the team and special sponsors. OPTIMA Batteries teamed up with the Foutz Motorsports crew to deliver a special prize to the OPTIMA Ultimate Adventure winner at the Best in the Desert Las Vegas 300. Nineteen year old Brittany Burgos was the winner of the contest with OPTIMA and won a ride in the race with Greg for the first lap of the event. She also had an e-ticket ride in the Outdoor channel camera crew helicopter during the event to see the show from the air. The race delivered the ULTIMATE ADVENTURE for Brittany and Greg as the Fabtech Ford F250 Super Duty truck powered into the lead early and set lap pace for the entire class all day. Brittany is a growing driver in the off-road world and has her own truck that she races in other events. Look for her in the winners circle soon.

A special thanks to all of our support and sponsors.

Dixon Bros Racing - WINS LV 300!!! and Class Championship!!!

We had a perfect day, drove the truck about 80% and beat everyone by about 20min. That win also wrapped up the class 7100 Championship for us and we only have to start the Henderson race to make it official. Looks like we got all of the little problems fixed and it was great to finally realize our trucks potential.

SCORE releases 1,296.39-mile race course map Saturday

At Off-Road Expo for 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000

Racers from 39 States, 13 countries entered in internationally-televised

40th anniversary of Granddaddy of all desert races;

Peninsula run Nov. 10-16 in Mexico from Ensenada, Baja California

To Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur

LOS ANGELES—Promising to add even more colorful lore to the already legend-filled desert race, SCORE International released Saturday the official 1,296.39-mile race course map for November’s 40th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. To be held Nov. 10-16, this year’s historic 40th anniversary odyssey of the world’s most famous desert race will be a grueling and memorable adventure down Mexico’s mysterious Baja California peninsula starting in Ensenada, Baja California and finishing in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California, Sur.

The announcement was made from the SCORE Baja 1000 40th anniversary display at the first day of the massive Off-Road Expo being held through Sunday at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.

An amazing total of 377 vehicles are entered to date and the length of the course is second only to the SCORE Baja 2000, the over 1,700-mile journey that started the new millennium that also was the only other time the race finished in Cabo San Lucas in its storied history.

“There are a couple of sections that have never been run before in the history of this great race and another section that was used only in 2000 so this will be a course for the ages,” said Sal Fish, SCORE CEO and President since soon after the Los Angeles-based SCORE International was founded in 1973. “Picture an artist’s canvas and imagine painting every type of terrain from petrified rocks to silty sand to high-speed trails to tight-twisty mountain passes and you’ll begin to capture the essence of what this incredible 40th anniversary race course will be like. Without a doubt, history will be made on a course that promises a thousand more SCORE Baja memories.”

With massive crowds reaching over 300,000 anticipated to again be spread out along the point-to-point course, the race will start for the 33rd time in Ensenada and will finish for only the second time in Cabo San Lucas.
