Rick Huseman Earns Co-Leader Title in CORR Pro 4 Championship Point's Race after Tough Weekend at Chula Vista International Raceway

Riverside, CALIFORNIA - By the time Sunday's Round 12 was over, Rick Huseman, driver of the No.3 FABTECH/Toyota TRD/Toyo Tires/TRAXXAS Pro 4, claimed a 50% share of the top spot in the 2008 CORR Pro 4 Series race for the championship with last year's champion, Carl Renezeder.

The weekend's fireworks kicked off early on Friday afternoon as the Riverside, California native set the stage for a battle in the dirt by setting the fastest qualifying time in his sleek Pro 4 race truck.

husemanSaturday's Round 11 race aired live on SPEED Channel in front of a packed house at San Diego's Chula Vista International Raceway. Rick's dominant performance in qualifying set the tone for not only the FABTECH race truck driver, but for the throngs of fans, family and crew who gathered beneath the blue and white tent at Rick Huseman Racing race headquarters.

"We were really strong in Friday's qualifying and it's always a good thing to come out of the box running fast. The track conditions were perfect for our Toyo Tires and Toyota TRD provided us with an engine package that wicked up the power and put it to the ground," explained Huseman.

With only five rounds of racing remaining, the importance of culminating championship points was on everyone's mind this race weekend. As race teams forged into the competition, it was a make or break for a few who were on the edge of not being able to play catch up after this weekend of racing. With a tremendous amount of work to be done before the final race weekend of the season, Rick Huseman was all business as he climbed into his office chair behind the steering wheel of his Pro 4.

After a superb qualifying effort on Friday afternoon, the mandatory inversion put Huseman in row four for the start of the race. However, it wasn't long before he began moving up through the field and by the halfway mark of Saturday's main event, the No.3 was vying for the top spot alongside Greaves and Renezeder.

"The beginning of the race is always tenacious and after a few laps, things begin to settle down a bit. The team has worked very hard battling adversity throughout the season and it's my job to get off the start clean and set the stage for a strong run. Working together with my spotter, we were able to run some fast clean lines in the first half of the race," commented the veteran Pro 4 racer.

husemanAs soon as the green flag dropped after the mandatory midway caution lap , Huseman battled for the lead, putting his Toyota TRD power plant, FABTECH suspension and Toyo Tires to the extreme test in his push for the checkered flag. He came up just short ending in fourth spot in the Saturday main event.

Sunday's Round 12 was spectacular from the onset as the race start was marred when a huge group of mid-pack race trucks were involved in a crash incident. This sent several drivers to the hot pits for repairs, while CORR officials lined up the race for a restart.

When the race restarted, it was the FABTECH/Toyota TRD/Toyo Tires/TRAXXAS No.3 that jumped to the front and never stopped pushing until he suffered a sudden mechanical failure on lap twelve.

"We had a good run going, but we got hit by the "unlucky stick" and suffered a serious mechanical issue that forced us to run off the pace. We ended up just off the podium in fourth place for the second day in a row. We'll take that and head into the final three races of the season. We've got a six-week layoff between this past weekend's races and the Las Vegas-Primm International Raceway event, so we'll head back to the shop and prep this truck for a run towards the season championship," Huseman said.

Combining a weekend of fourth place finishes tied Huseman for first place with reigning Pro 4 champion, Carl Renezeder. Each of the racers has a season total of 1108 points, which is 30 points over their closest competitor.

"I'm proud of the crew. They gave me a great race truck all weekend long and with three races left in the season, I'm confident that we will be banging the drums in contention for the top spot in the race for the series championship," regarded Rick.
