TSCO’s Mark and Gary Weyhrich Take Overall Spot, Besting B.J. Baldwin By Only 54 Seconds!

With a record 321 entries for this year’s race, the class 1500 unlimited desert buggy driven by Mark and Gary Weyhrich took first overall among the car and truck classes, finishing the extremely challenging 559 mile course with a time of 9:30:32. The “Trick Truck” of B.J. Baldwin looked to have a lock on first overall until suffering a couple of flats in the last 15-20 miles, costing him the win by the incredibly slim margin of 54 seconds. With TSCO being the title sponsor of the “Vegas to Reno” race, this was truly a sweet victory for the Weyhrich team.

Team Honda’s Kendall Norman and Johnny Campbell took the top overall motorcycle spot with a time of 9:24:02. Coming in second was Honda riders Steve Hengeveld and Robby Bell at 9:29:15.

At Thursday’s “Time Trials” to determine the first 20 starting positions, Riviera Racing’s Rob MacCachren took the top spot and captured the $1000 Team Ford “Pole Award”, which he immediately donated to the Chris Blais Medical Fund.

The top ten finishers for the car and truck classes were:

1 – Mark Weyhrich (class 1500, unlimited buggy)

2 – B.J. Baldwin (class 1400, Trick Truck)

3 – Sam Berri (class 1500, unlimited buggy)
