BITD Points Battles

2007 CAR/TRUCK GRAND CHAMPION AND
INDIVIDUAL CLASS POINTS BATTLES COME DOWN TO THE
WIRE AT BEST IN THE DESERT’S SEASON FINALE
As the Best In The Desert Racing Association gears up for the Henderson’s
Terrible “400”, the last race on the 2007 schedule, there are still several racers
within striking distance of class championships.
Sitting on top of the 2007 Car/Truck Grand Champion standings along with the
number one spot in Class 1500 with total of 422 points is Chuck Hovey. He’s
followed in class by Shawn Croll with 389 points and Sam Berri at 379. Showing
the strength of Class 1500 this year, Shawn and Sam also currently hold down
the second and third spots in the Grand Champion standings as well.
In Class 1000, with 331 points, Erick Jacobs has the lead over Alejandro
Jimenez standing at 297 points and Larry Job with 282.
With 331 points, Alan Levinson holds the top spot in Class 1200 for Baja
Protrucks. He’s followed by Ryan J. Staats (264 points) and Jason Voss (260
points).
Going into this last race, the 1400 Trick Truck championship chase is up for
grabs. Steve Olliges sits on top with 348 points. He’s followed closely by Ron
Whitton at 339 points, Mark Post with 301 points and Chris Robinson with 299.
In Class 1700 JeepSpeed, there’s a two way battle between Jim Hunt (283
points) and Ray Griffith (265 points).
The top three spots in Class 2000 sees Rick Waszkiewicz on top with 358
points, followed by Gary Stairs and Amy Perez at 334 and 305 points.
Mike Falkosky holds a commanding lead in Class 3100 with 347 points.
Likewise, John R. Sunderland leads Class 4100 with 321 points.
Aaron Dixon’s 336 points gives him a comfortable the lead in Class 7100 with Wayne Demonja
coming in at the second spot with 234 points.
Four drivers are locked in a real shootout for the Class 7200 title. Leading the pack is Daniel R.
Bolton with a total of 347 points. Trying to chase him down is Jerry Zaiden (340 points), John Swift
(321 points) and Larry Roeseler (313 points). Carl Fitts’ 343 points gives him the lead over Jerry
Fisher’s 305 in Class 7300.
Curt LeDuc sits at the top of Class 8000 Modified Full-Size Pickups in his Ford truck with 355
points. Standing at seventh overall in the Grand Champion standings, he’s also the first truck to
break into top ten.
In the Stock Production Full-Size Trucks of Class 8100, Chad Hall leads with 348 points in his
Hummer. He’s followed by the Ford trucks of Greg Foutz (298 points), Kreg Donahoe (284 points)
and 2006 class champ Randy Merritt (264 points).
All of these tight class championship battles illustrate why Best In The Desert is the most
competitive desert racing series in the United States. Make sure you check out the 2007
