FABTECH MOTORSPORTS DOMINATES WE-ROCK

LOVELL & JORDAN WIN BACK TO BACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

In what could only be described as a storybook ending to the WE-Rock Rockcrawling Series, both teams Lovell and Jordan took home top honors for 2007. The FABTECH Rockcrawling Team repeated the undoable only a year after claiming both top spots in the 2006 UROC series. The only thing at this year’s WE-Rock finals as extreme as the course was the vehicle carnage. Cars were winding up with dents and bent tube in spots where it was previously thought impossible. Here is how the weekend in Donner, CA unfolded:

Brothers Tracy and Jason Jordan entered this event in a 3rd place tie for the series. It seemed unlikely that they could win but the pair never gave it a second thought and hit the courses with utter confidence. The Jordans immediately took a commanding lead in the Super Modified class by clearing a set of off camber gates that no other team made it through. Disaster then struck and Tracy found himself upside down after rolling off a ledge. The brothers calmly worked the car until a front tire had traction and with a burst of throttle, Tracy managed to flip the car the car upright and was able to continue. The crowd went wild as Jordan ended the day with a 28 point lead. The pair continued to be match the best scores on day #2 and were in 1st place heading into the final round. To their dismay, however, long time rival Shannon Campbell had an epic final run and was able to win the event. Tracy Jordan would end the weekend in 2nd place which was good enough for his 7th series championship.

While Tracy was tearing up the competition in his single seat buggy, Brad and Roger Lovell eyed the season championship in their Pro Modified FABTECH Ford Ranger. They were first to run on Saturday and that is never a good place to be. Brad suffered from a couple mistakes but finished the course on his wheels. “Things have changed. No longer is rockcrawling about flexing the suspension and sneaking through gates,” commented Brad, “It is now about making wheels in the air climbs and throttling through disastrous rollovers. When things didn’t go right on B3, we pushed the truck hard and I think a couple links are bent.” The team improved as the day went on but they were over 20 points from the lead at the start of day #2. The pressure was really on and the team needed to focus amidst the record setting class of 24 entries. They needed a big second day and that is exactly what they got. “Everything went just right,” recalled Roger, “Except for one cone, we put together 5 perfect runs.” The Lovells won the event with an astounding 34 point margin over second place finisher Brian Errea. The victory handed the brothers their first win in 2007 and 4th consecutive series championship.

The dual championships will ensure FABTECH Motorsports 2 of the 8 highly sought after slots in the upcoming World Championships in Sydney, Australia. Before any rockcrawlers get put on a boat, however, FABTECH Motorsports will once again square off against the best in the country at the WE-Rock Grand Nationals in Texas Sept. 14th – 15th.
