Andy Mcmillin Pre-Race Update
Hello Pit Crew,
After suffering transmission failure, in BITD Desert Series race Vegas to Reno the team and I, traveled to Plaster City to function test the suspension, transmission, shocks, light set up, and radio communications before racing Primm 300.
Our transmission failure at Vegas to Reno race began when I hit the wall at Terrible Cup 
III, and was high-centered on the concrete median, creating a crack in the transmission case. The same transmission was placed inside the trophy truck for the Vegas to Reno race and slowly began leaking oil, blowing the oil line and rupturing shafts. We sent the transmission to Rancho Drive-train Engineering and the crew placed a new Turbo 400 transmission inside the Trophy Truck. I am looking to have a clean race and feel confident after running well during testing. My dad, Scott McMillin, will start the first half of the race and I will drive the second half.

Rey takes over as president of Renault F1
Renault have appointed Bernard Rey as president of their Formula One team in place of the departing Alain Dassas.
Dassas, who presided over the team's second successive double world championship success last season, was named earlier as chief financial officer of Nissan.
Rey is currently senior vice president in the Renault CEO office and takes over at the Formula One team, run by Flavio Briatore, on September 17.
"The team is preparing to return to the highest level next season and is well-placed to do so in terms of personnel and resources," he said.
Renault are fourth in the constructors' championship with no hope of retaining the title. Neither Italian Giancarlo Fisichella nor Finland's Heikki Kovalainen have been on the podium this year.
The French carmaker announced in July a $50 million (24.8 million pounds) programme of long-term technology investment to help them fight back on the track.

Qatar to herald new era in MotoGP - racing under lights
Qatar's dream of being the first nation to hold the motorcycle Grand Prix race at night is set to come true.
The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation declared that it would host the historic race next year at the Losail International Circuit (LIC) during the evening.
According to reports reaching here from the Misano circuit, Italy, QMMF President Nasser bin Khalifa al Attiyah announced in a press conference that the forthcoming 2008 Commercialbank Grand Prix of Qatar on March 9, the season opening race, would be held at night.
The project to light the entire circuit is likely to be the biggest one, even undertaken in the world for any sporting event. Musco Lighting, who will commission the floodlighting, has assured a total visibility for the race which will move to a Sunday evening slot.
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta, Musco Lighting's President Joe Crookham and Vice-President Jeff Rogers, QMMF President al Attiyah and FIM President Vito Ippolito were all present at the press conference.
Making the announcement, Mr. Ezpeleta explained why Dorna is interested in the night race. He remarked: "Changing the Qatar race to a night time schedule allows for a better synchronization with European television schedules, where the race can be made available in the primetime Sunday slot. This is obviously a big boost for the broadcasters, and a landmark moment for MotoGP."
Al Attiyah commented from Misano in telephonic talk: "This is obviously a very prestigious project for Qatar and we are proud to say that we will hold the first Grand Prix event under lights.
The base work has already started at the LIC. Soon the strategic layout will be finalized for the lighting.
"Our focus is zeroed in on the commissioning of the project. We're are extremely hopeful the track will be ready for the landmark race," added al Attiyah.
"We're hopeful that we'll be able to finish the lighting at least one or one and a half months before the start of the race on March 9.
"Whilst this is great for the country's image as a whole, it also means our track can be used in the hot summer months and we hope this will open up more opportunities for other motor sports events in the future," said the QMMF President.
Experts in providing lighting services for racetracks and all kinds of sporting venues, Musco President Crookham described the complex system as "the biggest lighting project in the world for any sporting event."
He added: "The system will incorporate over 3700 separate light sources across every section of the circuit, which will eliminate shadowing on the track and in the run-off areas. The quality of the light is the same as any premium lighting system at any other major sporting venue. Based on our experience in other motor sports events, the riders will be able to see as well as during daytime and may even come to prefer it."
FIM President Ippolito hailed the announcement of the first night Grand Prix.
"I would like to express my thanks to the QMMF and Dorna for the hard work which has seen this project move forward. Before it was just something to talk about, but now it is very real and it is great to see MotoGP changing for the better. It is positive news for motorcycling as a whole."

Spyker Agrees to Sell Formula One Team for $109 Million
Spyker Cars NV shares gained the most in more than a month after the Dutch maker of luxury sports cars agreed to sell its Formula One racing team to Indian billionaire Vijay Mallya for $109 million.
Spyker rose as much as 58 cents, or 11 percent, to 5.65 euros, the biggest intraday increase since July 24. The shares were up 7.5 percent at 9:42 a.m. in Amsterdam, giving the company a market value of 33 million euros ($45 million).
Mallya, who controls Bangalore, India-based brewer UB Group, has been granted exclusivity to proceed with due diligence, Spyker and Mallya said on Sept. 1. Spyker bought Midland Formula 1 Racing Ltd. last year from billionaire Alex Shnaider for $106.6 million. The racing team had a 13 million-euro loss in the first half, Spyker said.
Spyker dropped 12 percent to 4.61 euros on Aug. 28, the lowest since shares began trading, after the AD newspaper said creditors asked a court to declare the company bankrupt.
Dutch securities regulator AFM said on Sept. 1 it has asked the Amsterdam Court of Appeal's Enterprise Chamber for a revision of Spyker's 2006 financial accounts because of ``flaws.'' Spyker ``does not agree with the requests for restatement,'' the Zeewolde, Netherlands-based company said.

LOS ANGELES—With over 200 entries expected from 16 U.S. States, Mexico, Austria and Germany, many of the world’s top desert racers are headed to Southern Nevada to compete in this weekend’s 12th Annual SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 desert race. In what could be the best overall field in it’s 12-year history, Round 5 of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series, will be held Friday and Saturday in Primm, Nev., located 45 miles South of Las Vegas at the Nevada/California border.
Nine of 11 former overall race winners and 50 racers with a combined 92 class wins will be part of the race that will feature 18 Pro and 2 Sportsman classes for cars and trucks. With 191 official entries to date, this year’s entry list is expected to reach over 200 vehicles by the time the green flag drops.
Celebrating its 34th season this year as the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series, the

For the sixth consecutive year, the SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300 has been split into two groups with the open wheel, VW baja bug and slower truck classes starting at 6 a.m. The remaining truck classes, including the featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division along with the unlimited Class 1 open-wheel desert race cars, will start at 1 p.m.
One vehicle will start every 30 seconds in the elapsed-time race with a seven-hour time limit to become official finishers. The course is a 72-mile loop starting and finishing directly behind the back parking lot of Buffalo Bill’s Resort. Vehicles will run either two, three or four laps, depending on the speed of the class.
Pre-race festivities on Friday for the SCORE Terrible’s Primm 300, including tech and contingency and the SCORE Manufacturer’s Midway, will be held from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bill’s. The post-race awards celebration will be held at the Star of the Desert Arena at 10 p.m. on Saturday.

ABOUT THE PRIMM AREA:
Located 45 miles south of Las Vegas on the Nevada/California border, Primm, Nevada boasts three hotel/casino resorts: Primm Valley Resort , Buffalo Bill’s and Whiskey Petes with a combined total of nearly 3,000 hotel rooms, the Fashion Outlet Mall with 100 retailers and the Primm Valley Championship Golf Course. The respected PROBAJA Racing Organization announced today, that $48,000 US Plus Entries Purse is up for grabs at the CABO 500 desert off-raod race, on Saturday, September 29. The events associated with the race are scheduled, Friday, September 28, Contingency in Loreto, the race will run on Saturday September 29, from Loreto to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Cabo San Lucas on Sunday, September 30.
The Mexican Tourism Board also announced today, its support of the CABO 500. The State of Baja South will host international desert off road racers to the race festivities in Loreto, the old capital of the Baja Mexico frontier. The mega-resort town of Cabo San Lucas will host the racing teams and great fans of Baja racing for the awards ceremony and touristic activites, after the race.
